Fans and followers are special, treat them as if they are.
Participate in the conversation, which you may have started yourself or started by a fan.
Never leave a follower or a fan "hanging", always respond to comments, questions and requests.
Negative comments - never delete, deal with the situation and close the convo in the public timeline and if you need to, continue the convo in email or via a meeting.
Keep your finger on the button. Make sure that you have alerts on your mobile that would signal as soon as there is activity in your social media accounts.
Respond timeously. What is "timeously"? Immediately is great, if not, I would say withing 24 hours.
