Good day Tamzin, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you as well as the sponsors, American Corner and Social Upstart, for this amazing learning experience. It has really added value and has exposed me to the ins and outs of social media. As you may be aware, i have my own little cake making business. Without social media, I’ve experienced very little growth in this sphere. However, since partaking in this social media enlightening journey, I’ve gained a number of not only online followers but real life followers and customers in my business This course has also challenged me beyond my abilities and has given me a platform to stay relevent and in touch with my community, global family members and potential customer base/friends. It has also allowed me to connect with the younger generation of family and participants of the course. With this new found social media presence, i will continue to grow my business and pay forward the knowledge that I’ve gained to my fellow older peers. Again, I’d like to extend my gratitude to all involved for making this such an enjoyable and enriching experience. Warm regards, Joanie Green Sent from my iPhone Date of Posting: 23 July 2019 Posted By: Joanie green Joaniescakesanddesserts, Cape Town |

BizXnet Social Media Upstart sponsored by US Consulate and American Corner Dear Tamzin I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors for this amazing initiative. It has given small business entrepreneurs the opportunity to empower ourselves who would not necessarily have been able to afford the course. The American corner has been a great venue, always helpful and pleasant staff. I have found it to be a safe space to be who you are, to be able to ask questions no matter what level you are and look forward to coming back. The length of classes and the two week spacing has made it possible for those that has regular working hours to still maintain a good balance. I think it would be amazing if there could be an intensive follow up course which could cover advertising in greater detail, blogging for business and WordPress. I was a social media stalker before I started social media training in March this year. I only used to view and like posts on social media platforms and didn’t know the purpose of a hashtag. In order to make my business become known, I was forced to become active on social media but didn’t have the necessary skills to post effectively. The social media training showed me how simple and fun it is to interact on the social media platforms and that it’s not time-consuming at all, but only if you have a strategy, and this we were taught as well. I’ve learned a lot from the facilitators, Tamzin and Lesley, and also learned from my classmates. I enjoyed the class immensely and is grateful to BizXnet and the American Corner for the opportunity they’ve given me. Date of Posting: 23 July 2019 Posted By: Sonja Virtual Assistant, Cape Town |
“I found the trainer Tamzin, to be very engaging, she kept my interest and quickly identified our industries so that she could tailor her advice to practical examples.” The venue is excellent and facilities are high end, which elevate the experience and make it enjoyable. The course content is relevant and comprehensive, meaning that we are not bogged down in too much detail, yet giving us the tools to really leverage the various platforms to market our business. I would highly recommend the course to anyone! Date of Posting: 11 April 2018 Posted By: Claudette Robinson |
For me social media is uncomplicated, plain and simple, its about telling people your story. The social upstart program hosted by the US Consulate and BizXnet at the american corner is just what you need to make this happen. The training is practical and makes your social media efforts so much more efficient. Even if you thought your knew most of whats required to make your campaigns a success there maybe still that little piece of the puzzle that you've been missing to take your business from good to great. Since starting the Social Upstart programme, I am truly enlightened with the content. The ease with which I am learning is almost too good to be true for a BC (before computers) guy like myself. The facilitators, Tammy and Brunhilda definitely know their media maize and yet make it uncannily easy for a layman like myself. American Consulate, you absolutely rock for investing in this awesome programme. Date of Posting: 11 April 2018 Posted By: Caleb Bennett |
